• Kiera Knightly Says No More Pirates

  Wait, doesn't Keira Knightley love wearing corsets? Not enough to do another Pirates of the Caribbean says the actress:

  [Pirates] was a completely fantastic experience, and it was an amazingly large portion of my life, but I don't think I need to go there again. I think that it's done. But I'm very excited to see the next one. And [Johnny Depp] is so wonderful in that character. I think it'll be wonderful.

  Depp is indeed confirmed for Pirates 4. Surprisingly, Knightley's next project, The Edge of Love, which opens in the U.S. on March 20, is a real change of pace for the actress, as it is set during World War II and not the 18th century. No word on whether she will wear a corset.

• Keira Knightley To Do Movie Not Involving Corset

  Shocker! Keira Knightley has signed on to do another film set in modern times. The bony starlet has already shot Last Night, a romantic drama with Eva Mendes. Now, she's signed on to star in the contemporary crime drama London Boulevard opposite Colin Farrell. The movie will mark the directing debut of William Monahan, the Oscar-winning screenwriter of The Departed.

  But fear not! All is still right with the world. Young Keira also has a host of period pieces on the horizon. She's set to play Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald in the Jazz-age The Beautiful and the Damned; do some Shakespeare (and perhaps trade not-eating tips) with Gwyneth in King Lear; and maybe play Eliza Doolittle in a new version of My Fair Lady. • The Duchess Review

  Two-time Oscar nominee Keira Knightley laces up her corset for another English period piece this week in The Duchess, based on the true story of Georgiana, the scandal-plagued Duchess of Devonshire. • Is the The Duchess Based on Princess Diana?

  In The Duchess, Keira Knightley plays "the Empress of Fashion" -- Georgiana Spencer, the great-great-great-great aunt of Princess Diana who married William Cavendish, 5th Duke of Devonshire, in 1774. While many are drawing parallels between the two Spencer girls and their troubled marriages to men with pubic mistresses, Knightley didn't try for any parallels in her performance. • My Fair Keira

  Keira Knightley is in talks to star as Eliza Doolittle in a remake of My Fair Lady.

  While the movie is intended to be an update, word is the studio plans to keep the setting in 1912, use the original score and shoot at the actual locations in London.

  Keira certainly looks the part of a period-piece waif, but can she sing?

• Fiennes on board The Duchess

  Fresh from his latest stint as the evil Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Ralph Fiennes has signed on to play a cuckolded duke in the BBC period flick (redundant, I know) The Duchess, says Variety.

  The Duchess is based on Amanda Foreman's biography of Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire, a randy 18th century British aristocrat who became involved in a scandalous affair with Earl Grey (yeah, the tea guy). The part of Georgiana will be played by Keira Knightley, who, apparently, can't seem to get enough of those corsets.

• Casting news: Diaz, Knightley, and Depp

  Variety is veritably teeming with casting announcements this post-Comic-con Monday.

  Cameron Diaz will be starring in My Sister's Keeper, which was adapted from Jodi Picoult's 2005 novel by Jeremy Leven (The Notebook). The drama, about a lawyer who must defend herself and her husband from the emancipation petition by their 13-year-old daughter who was conceived as a genetic match to save her sister from cancer, will be directed by Nick Cassavetes (Alpha Dog, John Q).

  Keira Knightley will be putting on the corset and hoop skirts again for The Duchess, an 18th century costume drama adapted from Amanda Foreman's best-selling 2001 biography, Georgiana: Duchess of Devonshire. Described as the "Princess Diana of her time," Georgiana lived a rather wild life. Sounds a little like the formula used to make Marie Antoinette to us.

  And finally, Johnny Depp is going back to the Hunter S. Thompson well for The Rum Diary, an adaptation of the "gonzo" journalist's autobiograhical novel that he wrote in 1959, but wasn't published until 1998. In it, Depp will play Thompson's alter ego, Paul Kemp, a freelancer for a rundown Puerto Rican newspaper who finds himself surrounded by self-destructive ex-pats.

  The Rum Diary will be written and directed by Bruce Robinson (Jennifer Eight, The Killing Fields).
