  • Liam Neeson Joins Paul Haggis' The Next Three Days

Liam NeesonActor Liam Neeson continues along the upward trajectory his career has been on since Taken surprised everyone at the box office. • New Clash of the Titans Images, Including Liam Neeson as Zeus
    Clash of the Titans

Director Louis Leterrier's (The Incredibly Hulk) vision for his remake of the 1982 movie Clash of the Titans is finally coming into focus, thanks to the release of a batch of new movie stills and behind-the-scenes set images. Empire released several shots of Sam Worthington in action as Perseus and also revealed the hideous Stygian Witches.

Likewise, the first shots of Liam Neeson in costume as the Greek god Zeus were revealed by Entertainment Weekly. Letterier told EW that Neeson's family was instrumental in him taking the role and that he "never complained" about the long hours he spent in costume during the sweltering shoot.

Liam's sons were like, "You get to play Zeus, that's cool, Dad, do it!" That's why he took the job.

  • District 9 Actor Offered Murdoch Role in A-Team Movie
    Sharlto Copley

While previously unknown, Sharlto Copley turned in a surprising performance in the sleeper hit District 9 to become ... well not quite a household name. But his next movie role just might cement stardom for the producer-turned-actor.

According to BlackFilm, Copley has been offered the role of Capt. H.M. "Howling Mad" Murdock in the big-screen reimagining of 80's TV hit The A-Team.

To date, we have no word if Copley has agreed to "join the team," but if he accepts he'll be alongside mercenaries the likes of Liam Neeson as Col. John 'Hannibal' Smith, Bradley Cooper as Lt. Templeton 'Face' Peck, and Quinton Ramone Jackson in the role that Mr. T made famous — Sgt. B.A. "Bad Attitude" Baracus.

The casting choice looks like a good fit for the ensemble action movie. Copley could indeed round-out this badass cast. Set for release next year, the feature, which is being directed by Joe Carnahan, has already begun shooting in Vancouver, Canada.

  • Liam Neeson and Bono Team Up for The Virgin of Las Vegas
    Liam Neeson

Even though he's riding high on a professional wave of success following Taken, with upcoming appearances in potential blockbuster movies like Clash of the Titans and The A-Team, actor Liam Neeson still has time to pay tribute to his roots by performing in a low-budget movie about an Irish "show band" singer called The Virgin of Las Vegas.

The Virgin takes place before television, when cover bands were wildly popular. Neeson plays an aging alcoholic performer working in Las Vegas whose life changes "following the arrival of a mysterious stranger."

No strangers to the music scene are two of the Irishmen behind the project: U2's Bono is producing the movie from a script by Horslips' Barry Devlin, with a production budget of only $14 million.

  • Liam Neeson to Star in Movie About Irish Show Bands, Bono to Produce
    Liam Neeson

Variety reports that Liam Neeson has signed to star in The Virgin of Las Vegas, which recalls the phenomenon of Irish show bands. In the days before television became widespread, many Irish would go to live venues to see singers cover early rock and roll songs. The bands become increasingly popular in Ireland beginning in the 1950s and evenutally amassed large followings across the country.

This movie will see Neeson as an aging show band performer who has moved to Las Vegas and spends his days in a drunken haze until a mysterious stranger arrives to change his fortunes. The script is being penned by Barry Devlin, who also wrote A Man of No Importance, which tells the story of a gay Irish bus driver with a passion for Oscar Wilde plays. The connection, of course, is a maladjusted Irishman who finds redemption in the arts.

Although no other casting decisions have been announced, the movie does have another big name attached to it: U2 frontman Bono is acting as one of the producers. No other casting decisions have been announced, and the movie does not yet have a specific release date.

  • Liam Neeson is an Unknown White Male

Academy Award-nominated actor Liam Neeson's star is (finally) on the rise. Though a Hollywood stalwart since the success of 1999's Darkman, Neeson has only flirted with stardom over the years. Neeson won over critics as Oskar Schindler in Schindler's List and collected a fan following thanks to roles in Star Wars: Episode I and Batman Begins. However, despite these notable roles, Neeson has never quite made it into the upper echelons of leading male actors.

Now, thanks to the surprise success of Taken, in which Neeson played a retired CIA agent who tracks down the slave traders who kidnapped his daughter, Neeson is set to star in a rapid succession of high-profile movies. Neeson will portray Zeus in the remake of the Ray Harryhausen classic Clash of the Titans, and is preparing to star in a big-budget adaptation of TV's The A-Team, in which he will play the team's leader, Col. John "Hannibal" Smith. After that, Neeson may be donning a beard and a top hat to bring Abraham Lincoln to life in a Steven Spielberg biopic.

The latest news has Neeson in negotiations to star in Unknown White Male, a thriller being directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (Orphan). Based on the novel Out of My Head by Didier Van Cauwelaert, Unknown White Male tells the story of a doctor who awakes from a coma to find that he has been replaced by a sinister imposter. Joel Silver is producing with Leonard Goldberg and shooting is scheduled to begin in January in Berlin.

  • Trailer for Miyazaki's Ponyo Online

Disney has released the first trailer for Ponyo, the newest movie from the acclaimed Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki, whose Spirited Away won the 2002 Oscar for Best Animated Film.

The movie tells the story of a goldfish princess who wants to become human and befriends a five-year-old boy. According to Nausicaa.net, the plot only superficially resembles the Hans Christian Anderson fairytale The Little Mermaid. The site Ghibli World, a collection site devoted to Miyazaki's Studio Ghibli, noted that elements of the story reference Die Walküre, a 19th-century Wagner opera. You might remember the opera's "Ride of the Valkyries" from the famous helicopter sequence in Apocalypse Now.

The English-language version of Ponyo is scheduled for a limited American release on August 14. It will feature the voices of Liam Neeson, Cate Blanchett, Matt Damon, Tina Fey, Lily Tomlin, and Cloris Leachman, among others. Enjoy the trailer:

  • Liam Neeson May Join The A-Team

When it was first announced that the 80s TV series The A-Team was getting the big screen treatment, there were many who groaned and complained that Hollywood was fresh out of ideas.

However, with acclaimed filmmaker Ridley Scott and series creator Stephen J. Cannell producing the movie, it seems likely to feature high production values and a grittier tone than similar adaptations.

Now it's been revealed that Ridley is looking to fill the cast with "A"-list talent: Liam Neeson is in negotiations with 20th Century Fox to play Colonel John "Hannibal" Smith, the role originally portrayed by George Peppard. Joe Carnahan (Smokin' Aces) will direct from a script by Skip Woods (G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra).

Neeson recently completed filming another remake, portraying Zeus in Louis Leterrier's Clash of the Titans.

The A-Team production begins in August for a June 11, 2010, release.

  • 5 New Photos from Clash of the Titans Remake

Laurence Olivier as Zeus in first Clash of the TitansSome of these early images are only interesting to the hardcore fan, but if you're into this kind of thing, we've got 5 images of Sam Worthington in a potato sack.

They are the first photos from the set of Clash of the Titans, a remake of the 1980's movie. And thanks to our friends at CraveOnline, we can now see Worthington boarding a boat as the Greek hero Perseus.

Obviously he is off to some far flung adventure -- is he sailing to confront the Gorgon? Unfortunately, these pics aren't that revealing. Although, there is one shot up Worthington's skirt.

And no photos, yet, of Liam Neeson, who will step into Laurence Olivier's shoes as Zeus.

  • Maggie Grace Takes On a Thriller

Maggie Grace in Taken In Taken, Maggie Grace plays the 17-year-old Kim, who sets out to follow U2's European Tour with a friend and ends up kidnapped and forced into the slave trade -- prompting her former-spy father (Liam Neeson) into action.

Working with Neeson was a nice bit of synchronicity. "In December, right before I read the script, I started watching a lot of movies at Christmas," Grace said. "I always have a little time off to do that. [And I thought,] 'I should make a list of people I wanna work with some day, people I really admire.' And on my actor list, Liam Neeson was, like, top. And right after that I read the script. So, I thought that was a funny coincidence. I think he's wonderful."

  • Attack of the Angry British Men

Liam Neeson in TakenWatch out Yanks: The Brits are back, and they're pissed. Tired of being portrayed on the big screen as either stammering fops (Hugh Grant), oafish hams (Rowan Atkinson), effete villains (Jeremy Irons), or prancing prettyboys (Jude Law, Orlando Bloom, Jonathan Rhys Meyers -- we could spend hours on this category alone), a new crop of raging anti-heros have emerged from the United Kingdom to obliterate such crude stereotypes once and for all. The latest evidence of this is the new release Taken, starring the UK's own Liam Neeson as an ex-spy who exacts violent revenge on the kidnappers who unwisely abducted his daughter.

In honor of this welcome movie trend, we present our salute to the bad boys of British cinema.

  • "Batman 3" in 2011?

The Dark KnightEarlier in the month, a Dark Knight producer said Batman 3 was moving forward, and now another Batman producer, Michael Uslan, told New Jersey's Courier-Post that he estimates the sequel will arrive in theaters in by 2011.

As for who will be the villain, Uslan wouldn't say. "It's one of those deals where if I told you, I'd have to kill you," he said.

Could it possibly be Liam Neeson, returning as Ra's al Ghul? Neeson told MTV: "You never know." Aaron Eckhart has also hinted at a return.
