  • New Zombieland Poster

Columbia Pictures revealed the poster for Zombieland, the upcoming comedy with Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg (Adventureland), Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine), and Emma Stone (Superbad) — and a possible cameo from Matthew McConaughey. For a zombie movie, it has a surprising amount of Hollywood talent, especially with a first-time director in Ruben Fleischer.

Harrelson explained to ShockTilYouDrop that his involvement in the movie started with the script, written by former reality TV writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick:

No, I never thought about [being in a zombie movie] honestly until I saw and read the script. I thought the script was phenomenal. And then I met Reuben and really liked him and I thought this guy is a go-getter. He's really going to make a terrific movie and so far I'm really impressed with him.

Early buzz on Zombieland has been very positive. A script review praised Zombieland, saying the movie "has all the potential to be a terrific comedy that just happens to involve zombies the way The Blues Brothers is a terrific comedy that just happens to be a car chase movie, or the original Caddyshack was a terrific comedy that masqueraded itself as a sports movie."

That's pretty high praise. Particularly for a zombie movie.

  • No Matthew McConaughey Cameo in New Zombieland Trailer

The trailer for Zombieland premieres today before showings of Year One, which, considering Year One's early reviews, could be a bad thing for the horror comedy starring Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Abigail Breslin, and Emma Stone.

The trailer is already available online, and while it looks terrific, it features none of the rumored cameos from Bill Murray and, possibly, Matthew McConaughey. Zombieland make-up artist Tony Gardner started the McConaughey rumor months ago by telling MTV: "I think Matthew McConaughey has a cameo."

McConaughey's publicist denied it, saying, "[We do not know] anything about this project. Nor do we know anything about his involvement in a project such as the one you mentioned.” Abigail Breslin was suspiciously curt on whether the Texan surfer will show up: "Oh...I...yeah. I can't say. You have to wait and see it."

October 9 is a long ways off, Abigail. Until then, enjoy Zombieland's first official, and McConaughey-less, trailer:

  • Channing Tatum Wants to Play Captain America

Channing TatumG.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra star Channing Tatum is really into playing the lead role in First Avenger: Captain America and the follow-up The Avengers. Tatum told MTV:

I would love to play Captain America. I actually really, really would love it. I love Captain America. I'm not a big aficionado on him. But I know who we was, and I like him as a character.

Whether Tatum is up for the role is not known, but it's notable that he still believes the long-overturned rumor that Will Smith is playing the role:

I'd absolutely be next in line [after Smith], as long as people wouldn't hate that I'd do G.I. Joe and Captain America and be like "Okay, you need to do something different than a soldier." I don't want to be that guy that everybody's like "We've seen you do that sort of thing."

With few names mentioned for the Captain America role at this point (Matthew McConaughey is a potential "maybe" for the part), Tatum could very well be a contender, much like his character in Fighting. Or, wait, is that too much of the same thing?

  • Matthew McConaughey, the Perfect Mother's Day Present

We're not sure how ReelzChannel host Gerrad Hall will ever top this year's Mother's Day present -- he arranged for his mom to interview her all-time favorite actor, Matthew McConaughey. Here's his story:

On April 18th, I flew my Mom, Donna Penick, out to do the interview. We saw The Ghosts of Girlfriends Past the night before, which she LOVED.

As you can imagine, she was incredibly nervous in the hours leading up to the interview. I certainly coached her as much as possible, gave her some pointers on the little things that matter in these interviews, making sure she takes full advantage of the QUICK four minutes she'd have with McConaughey and co-star Jennifer Garner.

Just before the interview, we were waiting outside the room. McConaughey and Garner had taken a quick break ... and we were standing there as McConaughey returned to the room. My mom wouldn't look at him, afraid of her own reaction.

After doing this for nearly three years, it's easy to not get so star-struck (though trust me, there are still actors I will, and do, go a little gaga over). For me, the most special part of this entire thing was seeing a true fan live out her dreams. From the day I got my job at ReelzChannel, meeting Matthew McConaughey has been her only request. I'm happy I was able to make it happen for her. And now she has it on video -- a memory that'll last her a lifetime. Not a bad Mother's Day gift, right? Granted, a month early -- and surely she'll enjoy the flowers I got her just as much.

You can check out the interview below.

  • Selleck Wants Back in the Magnum Driver's Seat

Tom Selleck Wants Back in the Magnum P.I. driver's seat Looks like Tom Selleck is ready to return to role that made him famous: private investigator and tiny-OP-shorts wearer Thomas Magnum. Yet, the studios aren't calling Selleck and telling him to pack his bags for Honolulu once more.

Matthew McConaughey has already been dismissed by producer Brian Grazer for the role. So the search continues for another, well, "Tom Selleck" -- much to the dismay of the original Magnum. Selleck told WENN :

They haven't called, they haven't written. I keep hearing they're developing [a Magnum, P.I. movie] but I don't know whether I'm going to be in it ... but they keep doing [fan] polls, and I keep winning them.

Not even calling, huh? Weird. Time to consult Icepick and find out what he's heard.

  • Magnum P.I. Casting Search Continues

Magnum P.I.Producer Brian Grazer has dismissed the rumor that Matthew McConaughey will play the lead in the upcoming Magnum P.I. movie adaptation, produced by his company, Imagine Entertainment. With a script and director Rawson Thurber (Dodgeball) already on board, casting has been the project's biggest problem. Grazer told MTV: "I think the idea for 'Magnum P.I.' is to find a counterpoint, to not try and find the new Tom Selleck but to find someone that is just so different that you go, oh my God! That guy is Magnum?!?" Sorry Matthew, apparently you're too Tom Selleck-y

Our dream casting: Mad Men's Jon Hamm as Magnum, The Office's Craig Robinson as T.C., Pineapple Express' Danny McBride as Rick, and Rowan Atkinson as Higgins.

Magnum P.I. casting, mostly Twilight style: Robert Pattinson as Magnum, Edi Gathegi as T.C., Peter Facinelli as Rick, and Bea Arthur as Higgins.

    You got any suggestions?

  • Bald-chested McConaughey to star in Magnum P.I. flick?

The New Magnum?Rarely does it make news when an actor is merely offered a role, but when said role is for the lead in a big screen adaptation of an iconic TV series, ears perk up. Yesterday EW.com reported that America's favorite bongo-playing apparel-phobe Matthew McConaughey has been approached to play Magnum P.I., the laid-back private investigator who spent much of the '80s solving crimes while cruising around Hawaii in his red Ferrari.

EW calls it "perfect casting" to have the Fool's Gold star assume the role first made famous by Tom Selleck, but we beg to differ. Is McConaughey even capable of growing chest hair? Because a bald-chested Magnum is an absolute deal breaker. I'll picket the premiere if that happens.

  • I blame Penelope Cruz

He's no IndyThe long legal battle to decide who holds the ultimate responsibility for Sahara's monumental suckage is apparently nearing its end, reports Variety.

The film, based on Clive Cussler's bestselling novel, is considered one of the biggest financial debacles in Hollywood history. Sahara's losses to date amount to over $78 million, according to standard shady Hollywood accounting methods.

Producers had reportedly envisioned Sahara as part of an "Indiana Jones-style action franchise," a perfectly reasonable expectation for a movie starring box office behemoths Matthew McConaughey, Penelope Cruz and Steve Zahn.
