• New Stills for Neil Marshall's Centurion

  Director Neil Marshall's (Doomsday) latest film, Centurion, originally titled Ninth Legion, wrapped principal photography back in March, yet very little information about the film has been released. Centurion will be featured in the latest issue of Empire, so we will finally be able to get a peek at what Marshall calls his "Scottish-Roman Western."

  Based on the exploits of the legendary Roman Ninth Legion that disappeared after embarking on a quest to wipe out the Picts in Second-Century Britain, Centurions stars Dominic West as General Virilus, commander of the 9th Legion; Michael Fassbender as Quintus Dias, a Centurion stranded behind enemy lines; and Olga Kuryleno as Etain, a ferocious Pict warrior. Fassbender told Empire to expect some blood.

  There's certainly a lot of head-chopping. I guess you can always make modern-day parallels, to the occupation of Iraq. But it's the idea of someone who believes in an ethos, becomes disillusioned and comes to his own sort of beliefs. So there are parallels, and it's interesting when you take it out of our timeframe and stick it back 2,000 years.

• Predators May Have Found a Director

  Predators, the sequel conceived and produced by Robert Rodriguez, may have found a director in Nimrod Antal and not Neil Marshall, as was previously rumored. Antal is a young director, whose credits include the ho-hum thriller Vacancy and the upcoming heist drama Armored, starring Laurence Fishburne and Matt Dillon that opens December 4.

  Predators will be based on a Rodriguez treatment written 15 years ago. It's set on a "jungle-like Predator planet" and may include a cameo from Predator star Arnold Schwarzenegger. Alex Litvak is writing the script.

• Check out 14 pics from Doomsday

  The zombie flick genre is enjoying a nice renaissance these days, thanks in part to the hot-chicks-versus-viruses subgenre birthed by Milla Jovovich and the Resident Evil franchise.

  In Doomsday, the latest effort from Descent director Neil Marshall, a vicious plague known as "The Reaper Virus" threatens the whole of Great Britain. The hot chick tasked with battling it is Rhona Mitra, last seen in Mark Wahlberg's sniper thriller Shooter.

• First Look: Doomsday

  Neil Marshall's claustrophobic horror flick The Descent, about a group of hot chick spelunkers hunted by bloodthirsty cave-dwelling monsters, turned out to be the best-reviewed genre movie of 2006. Among other accolades, the UK-based writer/director drew acclaim for bucking a recent trend in genre films by making a horror flick that was actually scary. Imagine that.

  Marshall's highly anticipated follow-up, Doomsday, about a group of hot chicks battling a killer virus, is currently in production, with a release date set for sometime next year.

  Rogue Pictures recently unveiled an image from Doomsday, featuring a pair of scantily-clad women doing battle in some sort of hellish, virus-ravaged urban landscape. If this image is any indication of what we have to look forward to in the event of an actual killer virus epidemic, I say bring on Ebola!
