Much is afoot in the world of director Phillip Noyce (Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger). First, Variety announced earlier today that the prolific Australian would be directing Tom Cruise in the cold war spy thriller Edwin A. Salt, about a CIA officer suspected of working with those sneaky Reds. Now, Moviehole is reporting that Cruise is opting out of another planned collaboration with Noyce, the political thriller The 28th Ammendment. But don't weep for poor Philip. Word is that none other than The Dark Knight star Christian Bale might be stepping in to replace Cruise in the lead role, as a newly-elected American president who discovers the truth about who really runs the U.S. government (hint: it's the Freemasons).
Nothing's been confirmed, of course, but it appears that the wheels are indeed in motion to get Bale on board.
Works for us.
