  • Early Review: The Rocker

    Cinevegas

Rainn Wilson (Dwight Schrute on The Office) stars as Robert "Fish" Fishman, a former rock star who was kicked out of the legendary hair metal band Vesuvius just before they broke big 20 years ago. He's had more than a little trouble letting go. After being fired from numerous jobs over the years, he's broke and crashing in his sister's attic. As it turns out, her son has a band called A.D.D. that is about to play the prom and is in need of a new drummer...

We got a chance to check out The Rocker (which opens August 1st, 2008) a little early here at Cinevegas and we've got the full review of The Rocker for you today!

  • Cinevegas Kicks Off With Rainn Wilson in The Rocker
The Cinevegas Film Festival kicked off its tenth anniversary last night in sin city with the comedy The Rocker, starring Rainn Wilson, Emma Stone, Jane Lynch, Will Arnett, Fred Armisen and Jeff Garlin.

The full cast was in attendance and members of "the band" arrived for the red carpet in a tour bus. Wilson was fully decked out as his character from the movie, Robert "Fish" Fishman, complete with tight leather pants, a bandana and studded armbands.

We'll be bringing you an early review of The Rocker shortly.

After the premiere, drinks and debauchery were in heavy rotation for the Cinevegas Opening Night Party at the Moon club at Palms, which was filled with enough hipster wannabes, silicone-injected actress hopefuls and meathead security guards to make anyone a little dizzy.

ReelzChannel.com is here in Vegas for the whole festival and we will be bringing you updates throughout!

  • Rainn Wilson Pounds the Skins in The Rocker

Rainn WilsonDoes Rainn Wilson have a shot at duplicating the big screen success of his Office cohort Steve Carell? Wilson, who rose to fame as Michael Scott's scene-stealing sycophant Dwight Schrute in NBC's hit sitcom, plays a failed rock and roll drummer who gets a second chance at stardom in the new comedy The Rocker, arriving in theaters this August.

Yahoo! Movies debuted The Rocker trailer today. Check it out and tell us that you don't see a little bit of Dwight Schrute in Wilson's character. Not that we mind. You can never have too much Schrute.

  • Exclusive interview with Rainn Wilson Coming Soon!
A couple of weeks ago at the press junket for The Last Mimzy (the new kids'/sci-fi movie based on the short story "Mimsy Were the Borogroves" by Lewis Padgett) I got a chance to interview Rainn Wilson--otherwise known to fans of The Office as über-nerd Dwight Schrute. I'm a pretty huge Office fan, so I was super excited to get to interview him. And he was every bit as funny as you'd expect.
We were small talking while we waited for the camera to be set up, and he decided he liked my necklace. I told him my mother-in-law gave it to me. The camera man told me we were rolling. I told Rainn we had to stop discussing my necklace and get down to business. He informed me I was mistaken, and the only thing we would be discussing was, in fact, my necklace. It went from there.
Keep an eye out for what real interview questions I finally got to ask him once I distracted him from my (albeit stunning) jewelry. It should be up on the site next week!
