• Forbes Lists Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston as Top Female Moneymakers in Hollywood

  

  According to The Hollywood Reporter, Forbes announced Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston as the biggest female moneymakers in Hollywood this past year. Many people are, of course, already taking note of the Brad Pitt connection. From June 2008 to June 2009 Jolie pulled in $27 million, while Aniston earned $25 million.

  Jolie's big paycheck comes courtesy of Wanted, which grossed $341 million worldwide, and an advance for her role as a CIA agent in Phillip Noyce's upcoming Salt. Aniston's money comes from box-office winner Marley & Me, as well as her role in SmartWater commercials. She also received an advance for The Baster, where she will star alongside Juliette Lewis, Jason Bateman, and Jeff Goldblum.

  Completing the top 10 are Meryl Streep, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cameron Diaz, Sandra Bullock, Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Drew Barrymore, and Renée Zellweger.

  THR also noted that the $183 million earned by the Top 10 women falls well short of the $393 million taken in by the Top 10 men. Harrison Ford topped that list with $65 million.

• Jack Nicholson May Star in James L. Brooks Comedy

  Variety reports that Jack Nicholson is close to a deal for a starring role in the next project from writer-director James L. Brooks (Terms of Endearment, Broadcast News, As Good As It Gets).

  The untitled romantic comedy would see Nicholson starring opposite Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd, and Owen Wilson. Bill Murray was in talks for the part, but production begins in two weeks and Murray has reportedly lost interest in the project and dropped out of contact with the studio. If cast, Nicholson would play the father of Rudd's character, an executive trying to win Witherspoon's heart. Wilson plays a professional baseball pitcher who's also, of course, Witherspoon's other love interest

  Brooks is producing the picture, along with Paula Weinstein, Laurence Mark, and Julie Ansell, and it's scheduled for a December 2009 release.

• Monsters vs. Aliens Trailer Pops Up Early

  The trailer for Dreamworks/Paramount's Monsters vs. Aliens doesn't officially release until Thursday, but it has popped up a few days early on numerous sites around the web. Many have already been taken down, but if you head over to movie-list quickly, you might still catch it before it's gone.

  The campy sci-fi animated flick looks pretty amusing, opening with a man going through a series of invasive scans before being admitted into a high security government war room. The scan locations include both elbows and even his bum.

  MVA pays homage to the sci-fi movies of the '50s and '60s, from aliens and mad scientists to The Blob and Loch Ness monster . The voice cast includes Reese Witherspoon, Seth Rogen, Will Arnett and Paul Rudd. It will release in late March 2009 in both 3-D IMAX and standard theaters.

• Mary Steenburgen on Reese Witherspoon in Four Christmases

  Mary Steenburgen is playing a lot of funny moms these days, including in the Will Ferrell/John C. Reilly comedy, Step Brothers, coming out this month and the holiday comedy, Four Christmases.

  "In Four Christmases, both Vince (Vaughn) and Reese (Witherspoon) have divorced parents and they finally after years of avoiding everyone's home at Christmas have to go to all four Christmases," Steenburgen explains. "My house, I'm her mom who goes through boyfriends like crazy, and each time I have a new boyfriend I become completely like whoever that boyfriend is. So every time she doesn't know who she's coming home to."

  "My current boyfriend at that time is Dwight Yoakam, who is a pastor at a New-Agey church with a Britney headset and dry ice," she continues. "I'm completely his groupie. Just an absolute devotee. So that's who Reese has to come home with her."

  Sounds funny, indeed.

• Witherspoon and Stiller Team Up in New Cameron Crowe Movie

  Writer/director Cameron Crowe has a new movie in the works. He of Say Anything and Almost Famous fame will be rolling out a romantic comedy/adventure, which is scheduled to start shooting in January. Reese Witherspoon and Ben Stiller have signed on to star.

• Penelope Review

  Christina Ricci and James McAvoy star in this modern-day fairytale about a girl cursed with the nose of a pig and forced to live in isolation because of the unsightly appendage.

• Casting news: Sarandon joins Lovely Bones, Vaughn and Witherspoon quadruple Christmas

  Another castmember has been added to Peter Jackson's adaptation of The Lovely Bones. Susan Sarandon has signed on the play the grandmother of the murdered girl from whose perspective the story is told. That's one sexy grandma.

  And on the comedy front, Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn will be teaming up as a couple struggling to spend time with all four of their divorced parents for the holidays in Four Christmases. The script, which was written by Matt Allen and Caleb Wilson, doesn't have any directors attached yet.
