  • The Living Corpse and Chasing the Dragon optioned

    Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal have optioned Chasing the Dragon: A Veteran Journalist's Firsthand Account of the 1949 Chinese Revolution for Universal and Tribeca. The movie will tell the story of Mae Zedong's rise to power and the advent of communism in China, based on Roy Rowan's memoir.

    On the other end of the spectrum, the indie comic The Living Corpse has been optioned to be made into a movie by Shoreline Entertainment.

    The comic, which was originated by Ken Haeser and Buz Hasson, is about a zombie--with memories from when he was still alive--who must keep his fellow walking dead in their graves where they belong. It will be made into a live-action feature to be directed by Justin Ritter.

    Robert De NiroTwo men whom I'm ashamed to confess I used to confuse with one another are finally teaming up to co-star.

    Okay, sure, they were both in Heat together, but do two scenes really count?Al Pacino

    Yes, you read it right. Variety is reporting that Robert De Niro and Al Pacino are set to act together in Righteous Kill, a movie in which they play cops chasing a serial killer. Righteous Kill will be directed by Jon Avnet (Up Close & Personal). It was written by Russell Gewirtz (Inside Man).

    No other details on the movie are available at this time.


    Next Showing: Righteous Kill starts shooting in Connecticut in August.
