  • Bruno Wreaking Gay Austrian Havoc Worldwide

Why is this considered funny? Someone please explain.Sacha Baron Cohen's latest incarnation, the flamboyantly gay Austrian talk-show host Bruno, is already raising eyebrows as the Borat creator gathers material for his latest comedy.

Yesterday, former Israeli Defense Forces intelligence officer Yossi Alpher sheepishly revealed in The Forward that he'd been lured into an interview with Bruno under the guise of discussing Israeli-Palestinian relations. Expecting a frank discussion of Middle East affairs, Alpher was instead subjected to Bruno's (admittedly not altogether hilarious) butchering of the word "Hamas."

Today, AP reports that a pair of Arkansas towns recently fell victim to suspiciously Bruno-esque pranks. Last month, residents of Texarkana and Fort Smith bought tickets for "Blue Collar Brawlin'," advertised as "Hot Chicks, Cold Beer and Hardcore Fights." But instead of good old-fashioned cage-fighting, attendees were treated to some seriously egregious man-on-man PDA action. While Cohen wasn't spotted at the events, the pranks bear all the earmarks of the comedian's handiwork.

Cohen might want to watch his back. Cage fighting aficionados and Mossad agents are two groups you do not want on your bad side.

  • Cohen to play Mercury

Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen has signed on to play Freddie Mercury in a biopic based on the life of the flamboyant frontman of the British rock band Queen, according to The Daily Mirror.

Cohen, who edged out Johnny Depp to win the role, reportedly modeled his Borat look after Mercury, whose appetite for debauchery was legendary even by the high standards of rock and roll. Mercury died of complications from AIDS in 1991.
