  • Brolin Indicates Goonies 2 Unlikely

"Where does he get his information?" Josh Brolin asked ReelzChannel when told about Sean Astin's recent comments on a Goonies sequel calling it an "Absolute Certainty."

Astin went on in an interview with ReelzChannel in October to talk about the possibilties of a cartoon and also another live action movie.

"I think he wants it to happen so badly that he’s just telling people it’s happening," Brolin said with a laugh.

Brolin was also less sure about the idea in general, feeling that the original is probably better left to stand on it's own. "It would be great. Or maybe not. It’s hard to say. It’s kind of great for what it is. From a business sense maybe it would be smart to do it again, but do you really want to do that to the original?

"Then it becomes about, “I loved Goonies, but did you see the second one? That was just kind of a bummer. Brand turned out to be a homeless alcoholic and it was awful." (Laughs)

  • Astin rooting for a live-action Goonies sequel

RIP, John MatuszakAs rumors continue to swirl that The Goonies might be returning to the big screen in animated form, Sean Astin, star of the 1985 blockbuster, remains convinced that a live-action follow-up, featuring Mikey, Chunk, Mouth and the rest of the gang as grown-ups, is still viable.

"I'd prefer to do it live-action, but I don't think they're mutually exclusive," he revealed yesterday in an exclusive interview with ReelzChannel.com. "I would love to see an animated Goonies cartoon and I would love to do a feature film. If an animated cartoon is easier and less expensive to make, and is going to help develop a fan base, so when it comes time to do a movie they can really do it right, then that's cool too."

"I think they've always made a mistake in thinking that the thing that's great about the Goonies franchise is that it's about kids going on an adventure," Astin continued. "To me, the audience that loved the Goonies initially will want to know what's happening with those Goonies. That same tone, the same quality that was infused throughout the Goonies can be captured with us as adults."

Corey!!!Astin went on to add that he actually developed his own story outline for a Goonies sequel, but "nobody wanted to hear it."

Well, we at ReelzChannel.com want to hear it, and we're pretty certain plenty of other people will want to hear it, too. The continuing story of the Goonies gang must be told! If not for us, then for Corey. Lord knows he could use the work.

Astin's latest movie, The Final Season, opens this Friday.
