Catherine Hardwicke has reportedly signed on to helm an update of Shakespeare's Hamlet. Also set to join her is Emile Hirsch, as the title character, and Philadelphia scriptwriter Ron Nyswaner.
The updated version will take place in modern-day America, and is centered around a young man struggling with the decision to avenge his father's death.
Hardwicke is no stranger to teen movies, after successfully seeing Twilight gross more than $380 million worldwide. She's definitely one to watch, and is sure to pull a theater crowd. Let's just hope Hamlet fares better than Hirsch's 2008 movie, Speed Racer, which disappeared faster than his Mach 5 car could travel.
