• Brad Pitt and Will Ferrell Added to Cast of Oobermind

  

  DreamWorks Animation has recruited some top-flight talent to voice characters in its latest animated adventure, Oobermind, formerly titled Master Mind. It's been announced that Will Ferrell will voice the part of Oobermind, the titular supervillain role that was going to be Robert Downey Jr.'s first foray into animation and also rumored to have been offered to Ben Stiller. Other additions to the cast include Brad Pitt as Metro Man, a champion of good and Oobermind's arch-enemy, and Jonah Hill as Titan, a new superhero created by Oobermind to replace Metro Man. The trio of actors join Tina Fey, signed on to play a Lois Lane-esque character who reports on the city's superheroes.

  Produced by Lara Breay and Denise Nolan Cascino, Oobermind is being directed by Tom McGrath and is scheduled for a fall 2010 release.

• Trailer for Miyazaki's Ponyo Online

  Disney has released the first trailer for Ponyo, the newest movie from the acclaimed Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki, whose Spirited Away won the 2002 Oscar for Best Animated Film.

  The movie tells the story of a goldfish princess who wants to become human and befriends a five-year-old boy. According to Nausicaa.net, the plot only superficially resembles the Hans Christian Anderson fairytale The Little Mermaid. The site Ghibli World, a collection site devoted to Miyazaki's Studio Ghibli, noted that elements of the story reference Die Walküre, a 19th-century Wagner opera. You might remember the opera's "Ride of the Valkyries" from the famous helicopter sequence in Apocalypse Now.

  The English-language version of Ponyo is scheduled for a limited American release on August 14. It will feature the voices of Liam Neeson, Cate Blanchett, Matt Damon, Tina Fey, Lily Tomlin, and Cloris Leachman, among others. Enjoy the trailer:

• TV Host Olivia Munn Joins Iron Man 2 Cast

  Olivia Munn will be familiar to gamers as the host of G4's Attack of the Show, but she's about to get more exposure in next summer's Iron Man 2. What role she will play is unknown, but she did share her experience with USA Today:

  All my scenes [in Iron Man 2] are with Robert Downey Jr. and one other actor. I don't know how much I can say. We were [improvising] and it came to me (to say a line) … (Later) Robert said, "Can we just stop a second and give Olivia a round of applause. She is rocking it." That made me feel good.

  Munn will also be appearing in the upcoming Tina Fey and Steve Carell comedy Date Night.

• Robert Pattinson and Tina Fey Sitting in a Tree

  Dear god, another reason to love Robert Pattinson: he likes smart chicks. When asked about what type of girl he likes, Pattinson said "I don't really have a 'type,' but I like smart people. I really like Tina Fey -- she is, like, the sexiest woman."

  Robert's penchant for intelligent ladies (and, in Fey, a brunette) lends a bit of credibility to rumors that he's crushing on Natalie Portman. Portman's not a stupid girl; she's a Harvard grad who also proved she can be funny when guesting on SNL.

• Baby Mama Review

  SNL alums Tina Fey and Amy Poehler star in this comedy about a driven career woman (Fey) who has recently become obsessed with having a baby. When she learns she is she'll need a baby mama surrogate (Poehler) to incubate her offspring. Fellow SNL alum Michael McCullers writes and directs and co-stars include Dax Shepard, Greg Kinnear and Sigourney Weaver.
