  • Michael Bay Calls Megan Fox Comments "Ridiculous"

Michael BaySome people just can't catch a break. Take director Michael Bay, for instance. The oft-criticized director is hot off of a blockbuster opening, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, that saw the movie earn an estimated $201 million in its first five days, and he's already having to defend himself from another attack. This time, it's one of his "discoveries," actress Megan Fox, who played Mikaela Banes, love interest to Shia LaBeouf's Transformers character, Sam Witwicky, who is lobbing the criticism at Bay.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Fox complained about Bay making the actors go through unnecessary training and said that Transformers was about special effects and not acting. When asked to comment on Fox's statements, Bay said:

Well, that's Megan Fox for you. She says some very ridiculous things because she's 23 years old and she still has a lot of growing to do. You roll your eyes when you see statements like that and think, "Okay Megan, you can do whatever you want. I got it." But I 100% disagree with her.... Nobody in the world knew about Megan Fox until I found her and put her in Transformers.

Bay also mentioned that his films helped the careers of Will Smith, Ben Affleck, Martin Lawrence and LaBeouf. Despite defending his use of special effects, however, Bay said that he's looking to switch gears with his next project:

I've been talking to some big actors right now about something that is totally different. A small dark comedy, a true story, with actors just acting, no effects. I'm done with effects movies for now.

  • Battlestar Babe Katee Sackhoff Researching Role for Marvel Movie

Katee SackhoffThe Battlestar Galactica actress was spotted at an LA comic book store buying everything she could get her hands on featuring Daredevil villain Typhoid Mary. When asked why, she responded it was, "in hopes to get a part for a Marvel movie."

Is this just wishful thinking, or does Katte Sackhoff know something we don't? We're going to be optimistic and lean towards the latter.

She's a mutant with multiple personalities, who develops various powers depending on which personality inhabits her at the time. There have been rumors floating around for some time of a reboot/sequel to 2003's Mark Stephen Johnson movie, which starred Ben Affleck.

Another possibility is that Sackhoff's research is for the recently confirmed continuation of the X-franchise -- Ryan Reynolds' coming Deadpool movie. In fact, with Typhoid Mary's mutant connection, she could be a candidate for any future X-movie from Fox. Let the speculation begin!

  • More Ben Affleck News: He Almost Nails Vintage Bee Gees Look

Ben AffleckVery few men can wear their hair long and their beards full and still look like they spend more time grooming themselves than a Revlon model, but Ben Affleck is one of those men. Volumize and straighten the hair just a little, put him in a leisure suit, and when the Hollywood powers that be eventually decide it's time to tell the epic saga of the Brothers Gibb, the role of Barry is his.

  • Something's fishy in State of Play

Things aren't starting out well for State of Play. First Brad Pitt dropped out, now Edward Norton is following suit.

Pitt departed the film just before Thanksgiving over script issues, which has left Universal quite displeased, and was replaced by Russell Crowe.

However, the official line is that Norton is dropping out over scheduling troubles. You see, when Crowe signed on, production got bumped to January, which evidently conflicted with Norton's plans to play the lead(s) in the comedy Leaves of Grass. Now Ben Affleck is in talks to replace Norton as the politician caught in a murder conspiracy.

Quite a lot of hullabaloo considering filming hasn't even started yet. Not what one calls a 'good omen.'

  • Studio pulls Affleck's flick -- and not because it sucks

This one's Casey, not BenUpon hearing the news that a studio has decided against releasing a Ben Affleck movie, one naturally assumes it's because the movie probably sucks -- a perfectly reasonable assumption, given the remarkable consistency of the actor's suckage over the last decade.

Not so fast. Variety reports that the U.K. release of Affleck's directorial debut, Gone Baby Gone, has been delayed indefinitely due to its similarity to the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, a four-year-old British girl who went missing while on holiday in Portugal.

    Talk about bad timing.

Based on the bestselling novel by Dennis Lehane, Gone Baby Gone is enjoying tremendously good buzz, and is being touted by many as a potential Oscar contender. Ben Affleck, Oscar-winning director? Not sure if I could handle that. I was just starting to get used to Ben Affleck, Oscar-winning screenwriter.
