• Foxx and Butler to star in Darabont's Citizen

  Director Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile) has his cast for the upcoming thriller, Law Abiding Citizen.

  Jamie Foxx is set to play the titular "Citizen," a man who finds himself abandoned by a legal system that has offered a plea bargain to one of the murderer's of his wife and child. Foxx's character carries out a revenge plot line targeted at the killers and those who offered the plea bargain.

  Gerard Butler plays an asssistant D.A. at the center of the dejected citizen's vigilante plot.

• Tom Hanks drops out of Fahrenheit 451

  Director Frank Darabont (The Mist, The Shawshank Redemption) revealed today that star Tom Hanks has opted not to star in his long-plan adaptation of Fahrenheit 451. In an interview with MTV Movies, Darabont cited scheduling issues as the ultimate deal-breaker for the Oscar-winning actor, who had been set to play book-burning firefighter Guy Montag in the movie version of Ray Bradbury's seminal novel. Darabont declined to reveal his ideal choice for Hanks's replacement.

• Tom Hanks to star in Fahrenheit 451?

  While director Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile) was talking with Dailies about his new movie opening next week, The Mist, he also gave up some juicy tidbits about an upcoming project.

  Darabont wants to remake the sci-fi dystopia, Fahrenheit 451, and he wants Hanks in the leading role of Guy Montag. Originally a story by Ray Bradbury, Farenheit 451 is about a future full of book burning and censorship. "I would love to work with Hanks again because he's the gold standard. Let's face it--I love him," said Darabont. "Hopefully it'll stay on track."

  Like much else in town these days, Fahrenheit 451's 'on-track-ness' is being affected by the writers' strike.

• Indy 4 already in trouble?

  Shooting has yet to begin on the fourth Indiana Jones film and fans already have cause to worry. In a recent interview with MTV News, one-time Indy 4 screenwriter Frank Darabont spoke of his much-publicized troubles with producer George Lucas:

  "I spent a year of very determined effort on something I was very excited about, working very closely with Steven Spielberg and coming up with a result that I and he felt was terrific. He wanted to direct it as his next movie, and then suddenly the whole thing goes down in flames because George Lucas doesn't like the script."

  Some speculate that the rift began when Darabont ignored Lucas's request for Indiana to be paired with a Jamaican-accented, CGI-animated sidekick. Lucas, having already contracted with Hasbro to sell a line of toys based on the new character, was left with no choice but to fire Darabont.
