• Rose McGowan Updates Red Sonja

  

  The fate of director Robert Rodriguez's live-action adaptation of the Red Sonja comic book was in doubt after the lead actress, Rose McGowan, was badly injured while performing a stunt for the movie. After McGowan initially said that she "pulled out" of the production, she quickly clarified her statement, saying that the movie was "delayed," but "not permanently."

  At the recent MOCA 30th Anniversary Gala, Fox News' Pop Tarts spoke with McGowan about her condition and the status of Red Sonja:

  I need one more arm surgery from nerve damage so I'm supposed to have that the beginning of December so if you see me anywhere I'll be hobbling around with a cast. It'll be very pretty. We're hoping to start filming again in maybe a year.

• Rose McGowan Sets Red Sonja Status Straight

  Despite earlier twitter comments by Rose McGowan herself that she'd "pulled out" of Red Sonja, it now seems that she's still going to play the she-devil with a Sword.

  The sexy actress again tweeted about her status on Red Sonja to clear up the earlier tweet from a few days ago.

  To clarify press reports: Red Sonja is delayed. I pulled out of doing it in '09. Not permanently. Hopefully will follow Conan. I am still contracted to do Red Sonja. Hopefully Filming in '10 not '09.

  McGowan also announced that she would be starring in the indie movie Dylan's Wake.

• Rose McGowan Reveals She's Pulled Out of Red Sonja

  Robert Rodriguez's remake of Red Sonja has been delayed multiple times due to actress injuries, financial woes, and word of another Conan the Barbarian movie. Here's another delay ... that we're not quite sure how to categorize ... to add to the list.

  The lead actress, Rose McGowan, took time to Twitter about Red Sonja and "other" films she was supposed to film last year. We're assuming from this tweet that she's dumped them all: Black Oasis, Woman in Chains, Inferno, and Barbarella.

  Just this once I'll address questions about Red Sonja & others I was meant to do in '08. Major personal & private; reasons I pulled out. Starting 2 want to work again. Sometimes real life f***ing sucks. That's all. God bless us survivors.

  Rodriguez was interviewed a few weeks ago and said that "Red Sonja" will film in 2010 or 2011. Although on another note, Robert hinted Rose McGowan's involvement in his latest flick Machete! on twitter.

• Robert Rodriguez to do Red Sonja Remake

  Comic book heroine Red Sonja is making her way back to the silver screen in a remake by Robert Rodriguez (Grindhouse, Sin City).

  Rodriguez, who is producing, has cast girlfriend Rose McGowan as the sword-bearing warrior. 

  Red Sonja will be directed by Douglas Arniokoski.
