The Sundance Institute announced its lineup of competition films for the upcoming 2008 Sundance Film Festival. 121 feature-length films from 87 different countries will be screened at Sundance this year, including 87 world premieres.
In the competition catories are a few publicized movies, including the adaptation of another novel by the author of Fight Club, Choke, a romantic comedy with Winona Ryder and Wes Bentley about a guy who writes other people's suicide notes, The Last Word, the Michael Chabon novel adaptation that got Sienna Miller in so much trouble during filming, The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, and a movie about a teenager who trades pot for therapy sessions, The Wackness.
Only 32 movies will be competing in the four categories--documentary, dramatic, world cinema documentary, and world cinema dramatic. The out-of-competition films will be announced tomorrow.
