Meet the Host

  • Matt Mauro

    Matt Mauro

Matt Mauro is a news and entertainment junkie who loves celebrities, Hollywood, and all things movies. He also loves to talk! All of that makes him a great anchor for the new ReelzChannel show Hollywood Dailies, a fun, fresh, and informative movie news and entertainment show viewers can catch Monday through Friday at 7:00 pm ET/PT.

Matt has been a correspondent and host for news and entertainment shows all over the country. He grew up in Florida and got his first taste of television at Pepperdine University. He tried doing the weather there, but when he talked about rain and a cold front when it was sunny and hot outside he knew meteorology wasn’t his thing. Matt continued college in New York and Florida, where he was a reporter for National Public Radio and produced and hosted an award-winning radio news magazine show.

After graduating from the University of Florida, Matt moved to Kansas to work for the CBS, CW, and Fox affiliates. You’ve heard people say, "Get the heck OUT of Dodge!", but Matt made his way into Dodge City where he chased tornadoes, floods, blizzards, and the occasional wayward cow. Next he moved to Wichita, where he was an award-winning education reporter and host of two morning news shows. One of his favorite features was a segment he created called "See Matt," where every week he’d get his adrenaline rush trying something new, including jumping out of a plane, riding a bucking bronco, and playing professional hockey.

When Matt was done working in Kansas he decided it was time to move to Los Angeles, so he got rid of just about everything he owned, packed the rest in his trusty VW Jetta, and drove to sunny Southern California. Soon after, he started freelancing and hosting shows for TV Guide Network. Then an opportunity came knocking from ReelzChannel and Matt answered.

Besides watching movies and catching up on the latest Hollywood and celebrity buzz, Matt’s a fitness and health-food nut who loves the water, sunshine, mountains, and, most of all, having fun.

  • Stephanie Simmons

    Stephanie Simmons

Stephanie brings her love of entertainment to ReelzChannel as the new anchor of Hollywood Dailies alongside Matt Mauro. She has an extensive background in both sports and entertainment, dating back to her college days at Ball State University, where she received a degree in Telecommunications.

Prior to ReelzChannel, Stephanie hosted Great Day St. Louis, a live entertainment show in the Gateway City. While there she covered various movie junkets and all topics relating to local and national entertainment.

Stephanie also spent time working in Indianapolis, where she split her days as an entertainment reporter for WTHR and as the official NBA emcee for the Indiana Pacers. Also while in Indiana, Stephanie spent three years in the NFL as a professional cheerleader for the Indianapolis Colts. She was named the team’s spokeswoman, marketing the squad on both television and radio stations.

Stephanie also knows her way around the red carpet, which she covered for various award shows as a field producer for E! Entertainment Television. She then branched into sports and produced for the Indy Racing League. While there, she pit-produced shows at world-famous events like the Indy 500, covering Danica Patrick’s historical first running at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

In her free time, Stephanie is all about adrenaline. She is a certified skydiver, as well as a competitive distance runner who competes in many road races across the country. She is also a seasoned scuba diver and loves to dive with sharks. Yeah, sharks.

Stephanie is married to professional open-wheel racecar driver Jeff Simmons, and has two adorable pitbulls named Batman and Vegas.

  • Ryan Reynolds Says Green Lantern's "Ready to Go" and More from Sundance

Matt Mauro is the co-host for ReelzChannel TV's Hollywood Dailies and occasionally shares stories from the field.

What a first day at Sundance — feels like three or four days of movies were packed into 24 hours. Among the highlights, interviewing Ryan Reynolds. What a nice guy. He's here for his new movie Buried, in which he plays a guy trapped in a coffin with a flashlight and dying cell phone.

On the red carpet for Buried's premiere, I asked Reynolds if he could share any details about Deadpool or Green Lantern.

There is not much to tell except that they are both full steam ahead. Green Lantern is actually six weeks out right now, so we are ready.

I also did a bunch of interviews for Please Give and HappyThankYouMorePlease, two great indie movies, and talked with Tyler Labine and Alan Tudyk from Tucker and Dale vs Evil — the comedy/horror flick about hillbillies and your perception of people.

Today's Sundance highlights include The Runaways with Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart and John Legend. Tune into Hollywood Dailies starting Monday for our full coverage of Sundance.

  • Answering the Hope for Haiti Now Call

Hope for Haiti Now telethon on ReelzChannel

Tonight the Hope for Haiti Now telethon airs live on a number of networks at 8 PM ET (5 PM PT), including ReelzChannel. Many of Hollywood's top names have joined this effort to raise funds for the victims and people of Haiti after last week's devastating earthquake. But it's not just the list of performers and presenters that's star-studded, George Clooney told MTV:

You got about 130 to 140 actors, athletes, singers, and television hosts, and they're all coming up not to be on TV, but simply to answer the phones.

All proceeds from the telethon will be split evenly between The Clinton Bush Haiti Fund, United Nations World Food Programme, Oxfam America, Partners in Health, The Red Cross, UNICEF, and the Yele Haiti Foundation. If you want to get an early jump on donating, you can call Hope for Haiti Now at 1-877-99-HAITI or donate online.

Get details about the telethon and our special editions of Hollywood Dailies.
